Alroy G. Fuller, 85, of Middleport, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 20, 2025.
Born May 23, 1940 in Medina, he was a son of the late Wilbert and Edna (Harch) Fuller. Al grew up in Shelby and was a lifelong member of the Shelby Volunteer Fire Co. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965. On August 20, 1966 he married the love of his life, the former Gail Y. Wollenberg. The couple made their home in Middleport and have resided there ever since. Al had a 32 year career at Harrison Radiator Division of GM, retiring in 1998. He also worked part time as a police officer for the Village of Middleport. Active in his community, Al was a member of the Clute-Phillips Post #938 American Legion and was a parishioner of the Middleport Methodist Church where he also served as a trustee. He and Gail were avid campers and belonged to the Empire Happy Wanderers. The couple also enjoyed volunteering for several years giving guided tours of the lighthouse at Golden Hill State Park. He will be fondly remembered for his witty sense of humor. Al enjoyed handy work and was well known for his kindness in lending a helping hand whenever needed to family, friends and neighbors alike.
Predeceased by siblings, Roger, Glenn, Norman (Lou), James, Jaydee, Gordon (Cheri), Thomas (Jeanne), Charles (Shirley), Rosemary Pray, Louretta Anderson, Mildred and Catherine Fuller; sister-in-law, Barbara Fuller; and brother-in-law, Charles Wilson.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Gail Fuller of Middleport; two children, Christine (Timothy) Hare and Todd (Peter) Fuller; three grandchildren, Gina (Michael) Punch, Brian (Amber) Fuller and Kevin Fuller; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Punch, Kelso and Malcolm Fuller; brother, John Fuller (Judy); sister, Cecelia Wilson; brother and sisters in-law, Edward Pray, Pat Fuller and Vera Fuller; an abundance of nieces and nephews; and special neighbors, Nanette Lotz, Bobbi Wenzel and Gordy and Betty Rhoades. The family also extends a special thank you to Kim Schoolcraft for her help and kindness during this difficult time.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 27 from 4-7PM at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. His funeral service will be held the following morning at the funeral home on Saturday, June 28 at 11AM. Interment with full military honors will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Shelby Vol. Fire Hall.
