Douglas A. Paul, of Medina, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, friends and his fiancée and caretaker, Amanda Morgan on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
He was born on February 1, 1971 in Niagara Falls. Doug attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1989. After graduation, he worked for Thompson Roofing and R.A. Miller Hardwood before enlisting in the United States Air Force Reserves in 1995. Doug served with the 328th Tactical Airlift Squadron in the medical field before reenlisting in 2001 and returning to technical school to pursue a career in aircraft structural maintenance. He served as a mechanic on C-130 Hercules cargo planes with the 914th Airlift Squadron until his honorable discharge in November 2008. During his military service, Doug was employed by Carborundum Abrasives and Unifrax Co. until 2018.
Doug was a man of many talents, with a wide range of interests and hobbies. He was an avid reader, a passionate cook, and a fan of both the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bills. Doug was a true movie buff. He loved camping and took his children on many adventures. He also had a profound love for music. Among his favorite pastimes was traveling across the country with his best friend, Steven Hulsizer, attending countless concerts over the past 35 years.
Doug will be remembered for his zest for life, his courageous battle, and his remarkable sense of humor and wit that made him the life of every gathering.
He is survived by his children, Veronica and Ian Paul; fiancée, Amanda Morgan; parents, Gil and Sharon Paul; siblings, Christopher (Ellen) Paul, Daniel (Amy) Paul, Nina DeRubeis, and Fred (Stephanie) DeRubeis; nephews, Alexander Paul, Tyler DeRubeis, and Anthony DeRubeis; and numerous friends who loved him deeply.
In keeping with Doug’s wishes, there will be no service or visitation. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orleans, 14080 Route 31 West, Albion, NY 14411. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
