Edgar L. "Cowboy Ed" Tillinghast, Sr.

Edgar L. “Cowboy Ed” Tillinghast, Sr., 85, of Albion, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Born April 1, 1941 in Warsaw, he was a son of the late George R. and Grace (Jenkins) Tillinghast. Ed grew up in the Belfast and Warsaw areas. He was employed for over 40 years as an operating engineer with Local #463 out of Niagara Falls. Ed loved music and playing guitar in his band- Cowboy Ed & The Echo Valley Boys. Ed also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed going to the casino.

Ed was predeceased by his wife, Martha L. (Coombes) Tillinghast in 2010; son, Joseph L. Tillinghast in 2012 and all fourteen of his brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Philip (Becky) Tillinghast, Tammy Prentice, Joanne Florek, Edgar Tillinghast, Jr., Terri Tillinghast and Dawn Gerety; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. His interment will take place on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sardinia Cemetery, Sardinia.
