Eugene “Geno” Hrynczyszyn, 68, of Medina, NY, formerly Rochester, entered into rest on Monday, August 3, 2026 following a lengthy illness.

Born November 16, 1957 in Rochester, he was a son of the late William and Irene (Krasnowalaskij) Hrynczyszyn. Geno graduated from Franklin High School in Rochester and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from RIT. An Optical Engineer by trade, he worked for Eastman Kodak for many years. On July 2, 2004 he married the love of his life, Sandra (Lichti). Geno was a first generation Ukrainian American. Throughout his life, he remained very proud of his Ukrainian heritage. He had a deep love for music and was a talented musician. He played the keyboard and accordion in several bands over the years. Geno was known for his friendly and lovable personality. Whether it was a kind gesture or a corny joke, he loved making people smile. Geno will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sandy in 2021.

Survivors include his children, Jennifer (Nate) Simpson, Laura (Jammie) Reed and Jimmy Andrews (Kelly); grandchildren, Stephanie Wiatrak, LilyAnya and Alex Andrews, Matthew, Joshua and Makayla Reed; brothers, William and Anthony Hrynczyszyn; nephew, Mykola Hrynczyszyn; cousins, Steve (Mary), Jennifer and Angela Mykolyszyn and Lesia Telega; extended family Jenna (Joshua) Nickerson and their children, Bentley, Maverick and Kai.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Villages of Orleans, who became like family to him, for taking such great care of Geno in his final years. He loved you.

All are invited to join the family for a celebration of Geno’s life on Sunday, August 16 from 3:30 -8:00 PM at the Lockstone Kitchen, 160 N. Main St., Albion, NY 14411. Please wear your best and brightest Hawaiian or purple shirt in honor of Geno. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Geno may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis society at www.nationalmssociety.org.

Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
