Francis L. “Butch” Cassidy, age 87, of Medina and Batavia, NY entered into rest peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the Medina Memorial Hospital.
Born August 2, 1938 in Batavia, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marguerite (O’Malley) Cassidy. Butch was a graduate of Batavia High School, Class of 1957. He married the love of his life, the former Martha Stucko, on February 7, 1959. The couple lived the majority of their lives in Medina, where they raised a family of four children.
Butch was a mechanic by trade. He worked for many years as a maintenance mechanic at Fisher-Price Toys in Medina, where he retired. He also worked for TriCounty Ford, Alliance Plastics in Rochester and lastly Buck’s Motorsports in Akron. Butch was a longtime member of Sacred Heart of Jesus RC Church in Medina and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed travelling, camping, motorcycling and fishing and watching Nascar. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Butch was predeceased by his wife, Martha in 2022. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Michael (Chris Ranallo) Cassidy, Colleen Clary, Patrick (Aimslee) Cassidy and Kelly Kenward; grandchildren, Erin Cassidy, Dusten (Melissa) Kenward, Brittney (Steven Baker) Adkins, Tyler (Christy) Clary, Keith Clary, Colin (Kayla) Cassidy and Kaylee Cassidy (Matthew Mruk); several great-grandchildren; siblings, Marguerite (Anthony) Michalek, Mary Catherine (Charles) Neth, Joseph (Dawn) Cassidy and Edward (Jackie) Cassidy; and many nieces and nephews.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 11 at 10:00 AM at Resurrection Parish, St. Joseph’s Church, 303 E. Main St., Batavia. The graveside committal will be at 12:00 PM in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Medina. All are welcome to join the family after for a luncheon at 1:00PM at the Junior Wilson Sportsman’s Club, 3875 Bates Road, Medina. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
