Jeffrey M. Slack, 64, of Gasport, NY passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Born October 12, 1961 in Williamsport, PA, he was the son of Gerald and Suzanne (Deming) Slack. The family moved to the Gasport area when Jeff was little. He was a graduate of Royalton-Hartland High School, Class of 1979. Jeff started doing auto body work at home when he was 15. He then worked at several smaller shops, progressing through the collision field ranks to become manager of the Bitterman’s location at the Heinrich Chevrolet dealership. In 2000 he went on to open his own business, Slack Automotive on Ridge Road in Gasport, which he owned and operated for 26 years. He was well known for his signage “After the whack take it to Slack”. His pride and joy was his red 1972 Plymouth Duster, which he loved doing burnouts in.

Jeff had immense pride in his work in the auto-body field. Cars were not his only passion, as he had a love for music as well, especially when it was loud. Jeff not only enjoyed singing karaoke at Poor Boys Inn in Middleport, he ran the show as the “KJ” (karaoke jockey).

Jeff is survived by his beloved wife, Carol (Thompson) McDonald-Slack; three sons, Gerald J. (Terah) Slack, Michael D. (Jeannine) Slack and Paul O. Slack (Stacey); three stepchildren, Michael (Sarah) McDonald, Lisa Buttery and Brian (Delia) McDonald; grandchildren, Gerald and Joel Slack, Angela LoGolbo, Andrew and Keaton Slack; step-grandchildren, Michael, Marshall and Millie McDonald, Charles “C.J.” Buttery, Paisley and Monroe McDonald; brother, Daniel (Janet) Slack; nieces, Jennifer (Matthew) Powell, Laura Slack; great-nieces, Lainey and Ellie Powell; and mother of his children, Coleen Slack.

The family wishes to express thanks to the Hartland Vol. Fire Co. and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Dept. for their quick response and diligent efforts to revive him.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
