John R. Doran

After spending most of his life on the highway, John R. Doran, 77, of Waterport, NY, logged his last miles on January 29, 2026.

John was born on February 11, 1948, in Albion, NY to John and Olga (Cicca) Doran. He graduated from Kendall High School and worked for more than 50 years as a truck driver. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed time on his tractor, polishing his vehicles and unwinding with his puppies in his garage. He was known for his gruff nature, dry humor and quirky statements, which only he could get away with. He enjoyed keeping up with the weather and relaxing with classic television shows.

He was predeceased by his parents and his son, Brett Doran.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joan Doran; his Children, Jon (Kimberly), Jeffrey (Patti), Matthew (Francine), Christopher (Barbie), Jason (Mark) and Adam (Jennifer) Doran; his grandchildren, Ashley (Richard), Cody (Sara), Steve, Crystal, Brett, Aaron (Teresa), Gavin, Austin (Emma), Ethan, Jenna and Alex-John (Kacilyn) Doran; his siblings, Edward (Sue) Doran and Deborah (Mike) Cleveley; and many great-grandchildren.

In keeping with his wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of life at their convenience. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Orleans Community Health Foundation, 200 Ohio St., Medina, NY 14103 or to Hospice of Orleans at www.hospiceoforleans.org. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
