Judy A. Gelder, entered into rest on August 13, 2020 at the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

Born August 1, 1939 in Watertown, NY she was the only child of the late Roy and Keitha (Tripp) DeRocher. She graduated from Watertown High School in the class of 1955. Judy went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology. While at RIT, she met her soon to be husband, Robert P. Gelder. The couple were married on October 3, 1959 and soon after moved to the Medina area. An active member of the community, Judy was a member of the Shelridge Country Club and was a TWIG volunteer at Medina Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed playing tennis, golfing, football and was an avid reader. Judy also enjoyed quilting, arts and crafts and had a passion for interior design. She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Beside her parents, Judy is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Robert Gelder in 2018.

Survivors include her five children, Karie (Rick) Johnson, Lori (Donald) Kleinschmidt, Timothy (Cheryl) Gelder, Meg (Mark) Schrader and Matthew (Melissa) Gelder; 13 grandchildren, Drs. Patrick (Shaelyn) Johnson, Brian Johnson, and Hannah (Seth) Shay, Adam Kleinschmidt, Ashley (Ryan) Overholt and Aaron Kleinschmidt, Bradley, Ryan, Matthew and Jack Gelder, Ruby Gelder, Hazel and Matilda Schrader; sisters in-law, Kathleen June (Ken) Gillette and Dorothy Gelder.

Services will be privately held by the family. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Medina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PAWS Animal Shelter, 3371 Gaines Basin Rd., Albion, NY 14411. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
