Loren C. Johnson

Loren C. Johnson, age 89, of Medina, NY passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

Born March 5, 1936 in Albion, he was a son of the late James G. and Edna M. (Squires) Johnson. Growing up in the Town of Barre, he was raised with a strong work ethic. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960. On August 19, 1962 he married the former Margaret Sargent. Early on, Loren worked for Wolcott’s Dairy and then Thomas J. Lipton Co. for 22 years. Finally, he worked for Eastman Kodak for 11 years, retiring in 1991. Loren was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed bowling and coaching softball. He also belonged to the National Campers and Hikers Association.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Johnson in 2016; infant daughter, Brenda Johnson in 1963; and four siblings, Marvin, Harold, Leland Johnson and Esther Stymus.

Survivors include his three daughters, Lauren (Kevin) Lindsay, Bonnie (Ray) Matuszak and Rebecca (Wayne) Montalvo; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Rebecca) Caldwell, Benjamin (Christie) Caldwell, Cheri (Trevor) Smith, Cori Matuszak, Jessica (Joe) Demmer, Kelsey Matuszak, Chantel Montalvo and Christopher Montalvo; sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 17 at 11AM at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Private inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Medina. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
