Martin S. Kunes

Martin S. Kunes, of Bennington, NY, entered into rest unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

Born November 16, 1947, he was a son of the late Mary Hamman and was born and raised in the Batavia area. He married the former Carol A. Waszak on November 11, 1967. Martin worked for the Batavia Daily News for 30 years. Lastly, he worked for Chapins Manufacturing in Batavia as a machinist. Martin loved to golf. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting and band events.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Carol Kunes; three children, Daniel Kunes, Thomas Kunes and Julie (Daniel) Kelsey; four grandchildren, Hannah Kunes, Alex Kunes, Jacob Kelsey and Matthew Kelsey; three siblings, Frank Hamman, Frances Robinson and Carol Kunes; several nieces, nephews and friends.

A private graveside committal will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Medina at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
