Patricia A. Allport

Patricia A. Allport, age 82, passed away after a long illness, on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Born May 13, 1943 in Batavia, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Florence (Szurgot) Voelker.

Pat, or Patty to some, graduated from Medina High School and went on to marry Dean Allport on October 2, 1970. She worked at many different places around town, including the Country Club Restaurant and Fisher-Price. After much convincing, she finally retired from Clover Hill Adult Home. She loved to socialize and in her younger years you could find her at the bowling alley on one of her league nights, at bingo, or out visiting friends and family for coffee. As she got older, she would often be at the Medina Senior Center playing cards, volunteering with the Medina Hospital TWIGS, or at one of the downtown restaurants chatting up “the girls”. No matter where she went, she always made friends.

Pat is survived by her children, Marc Turrell, and Allison (Isahia) Schoolcraft; grandchildren, Emily and Aubrey Schoolcraft, and Kasey and Steven Turrell; four great-grandsons; her sister, Sandy (Doug) Christofferson; brother and sister-in-law, Bill (Nancy) Allport; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Dean, in April 2015; brothers and sisters-in-law, Junior “Kirby” (Betty) Allport and Leila (John) Brazzell.

The family would like to send a special thank you to all her caregivers over the last several years, whose time, patience and love helped keep her in her own home for as long as possible, even when the dementia made her believe it wasn’t her home. Also, to the caregivers at Briarwood and Newfane—hearing you tell us how much you love her when we came to visit helped ease the difficulty of having her there.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 11:30AM at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Interment will follow in Bates Road Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
