Paul W. Meland

Paul W. Meland, age 78 of Medina, passed away on June 5, 2026 at Buffalo General Hospital.

Born August 27, 1947 in Medina, he was the son of the late Gerald and Helen (Zuczuski) Meland. Paul graduated from Medina High School in the Class of 1965. He furthered his education at the Erie County Technical Institute, where he earned an associate degree. Following school, Paul was drafted and served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1968-1969. Returning home, he worked for many years as a warehouse worker at Fisher Price in Medina. Paul worked a few other temporary jobs before his retirement. In his retirement, Paul worked as a census taker for some time.

Paul was active at the Senior Citizens Center in Medina, especially on card day and enjoyed his time there with his friends. He was a member of Butts-Clark Post #204 American Legion, the Sacred Heart Club and the YMCA. Paul was athletic and enjoyed golf, tennis and pickleball. He could often be seen walking several miles a day around the Medina community. He was also an avid reader and cat lover.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife Kim in 2017.

Paul is survived by his brother Gene (Peggy) Meland; 6 nieces and nephews; cousin, Edward (Vicky) Houseknecht; close friends, Will Tierney and Vickie Hutchinson; and several other cousins out of state.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 18 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date. Memorials in Paul’s name may be made to the Medina Senior Citizen Center, 615 West Ave., Medina, NY 14103.
