Ruth D. Fisher

Ruth D. Fisher, 103, of Ridge Road, Medina, passed away on June 26, 2026 at Medina
Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 5, 1923 and was the only child of the late George and
Lily Durrant.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of the Town of Ridgeway, a proud member of the 1939
Medina High School Daisy Chain, and a graduate of M.H.S. Class of 1940. Following graduation
she was employed as a payroll clerk for A.L. Swett Iron Works. On August 19, 1947, she
married Robert E. Fisher. Together, they raised three sons and operated Fisher’s Fruit Farm and
roadside stand for over 60 years.They took great pride in the fruits and vegetables they grew,
and enjoyed talking with customers who came from near and far. Ruth shared her love of
sewing, crocheting, and handcrafting seasonal plastic mesh decor and ornaments. She also
enjoyed creating numerous historical scrapbooks from newspaper clippings which chronicled
the achievements and memories of family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Lily Durrant; and husband, Robert E.
Fisher. Ruth is survived by her sons, George (Mary) Fisher, Ronald (Norma) Fisher, and Richard
(Bonnie) Fisher, all of Medina; seven grandchildren, Ann (Andrew) Fisher-Bale, Sarah Fisher,
Daniel Fisher, James Fisher, Kenneth (Amanda) Fisher, Stephanie (Steven) Schepis, and Kelly
(Brian) Wetherbee; and nine great-grandchildren, Mason and Carson Bale, Luke, Clara, Drew,
and Ellie Fisher, and Jason, Justin, and Adelynn Wetherbee.
Friends may call on Friday, July 3rd from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215
West Center Street, Medina, where her funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in
the family plot at West Ridgeway Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company, 11392 Ridge Road, Medina, NY 14103, or P.A.W.S. Animal
Shelter, 3371 Gaines Basin Road, Albion, NY 14411.
