Sammie L. Mims

Sammie L. Mims, 82, of Medina, New York, entered into rest on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the Orchard Rehab & Nursing Center.

Born August 14, 1942 in Thompson Station, Alabama, he was a son of the late Elijah and Bernice (Baker) Mims. Sammie lived in Florida for a few years before moving to New York in the 1970’s. A hard worker, Sammie was a farm hand for most of his life, lastly for Rowcliffe Farm in Elba. He loved to fish and enjoyed going for car rides.

In addition to his parents, Sammie was predeceased by siblings, Poshie Mims, Oscar Mims, Barbara DeBose and Elijah Mims.

Survivors include his longtime partner, Kim Laskey of Medina; siblings, John Henry Mims, Doris Mims, Terry Ross and Reba Mims; special nephew, Elijah Mims (Jody Nottingham) and their children; and the Laskey family.

No formal funeral services will be held. Interment will be in the Second Baptist Church Cemetery in Thompson, Alabama. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
