William A. Caldwell

William A. Caldwell, age 93, of West Barre, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the Medina Memorial Hospital- North Wing Skilled Nursing Facility.

Born March 18, 1928 at the family homestead in East Shelby, Mr. Caldwell was the son of the late Victor and Hazel (Buisch) Caldwell. He married the former Gladys J. Dunn at the Knowlesville United Methodist Church on August 13, 1948. They settled and raised a family of five children on their dairy farm in West Barre. Mr. Caldwell worked for Harrison Radiator in Lockport for over 36 years. He was a longtime active member of the West Barre United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. Mr. Caldwell enjoyed hunting and splitting firewood. He and his wife, Gladys also enjoyed visiting and checking in on shut-ins. He had a great sense of humor and loved his sweets, especially homemade ice cream.

Mr. Caldwell was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Caldwell on May 29, 2010; and two brothers, Leon Caldwell and Victor Caldwell.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Barbara Watterson, Roger Caldwell, Sr., Donna (Larry) Hill, Norman (Naomi) Caldwell and Sherry (Eugene “Butch” Jr.) Baker; many grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Caldwell, Floyd Caldwell and Edward (Lola) Caldwell; sister in-law, Connie Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 17th from 5-7pm at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. His funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18th at 4:00pm at the West Barre United Methodist Church, 5377 Eagle Harbor Rd., Albion, NY 14411. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the West Barre UMC at address above, Supportive Care of Orleans, 14080 Rt. 31 West, Albion, NY 14411 or to the Medina Memorial Hospital- North Wing, 200 Ohio St., Medina, NY 14103.
