William Peter “Wild Bill” Chrysafides, age 66, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, in Buffalo, New York surrounded by loved ones.
Born on December 3, 1959, in Rochester, New York, he was the son of the late Peter and Debra (Boneham) Chrysafides. On June 22, 1985, Bill married the love of his life, Robin Whitaker, during the summer solstice. Bill dedicated his life to his family, encouraging creativity, confidence and self-expression in every aspect of life. Bill was an award-winning photographer who began his career at Kodak within the research department. In his later years, he retired from Barker Central School, where he worked for over 30 years. Outside of his career, he found joy in perfecting his unique art style creating “Bubble People” and “Space Face” illustrations which he would paint on pumpkins at Becker Farms and for children at Barker Schools, sparking endless imagination. Bill had a way of making people around him feel safe, often through selfless gestures and acts of generosity. He was always willing to help anyone in need. Bill cared deeply, not only for people, but for nature and animals. He treasured trips out west with his wife, and to the lake collecting rocks with his children. Bill cherished the open-air cruising on his chopper motorcycle, growing beautiful gardens for his family and capturing stunning sunsets at Barker Bicentennial Park on his camera. Bill truly had an indomitable will and spirit that was an inspiration to all around him.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Robin; his children, Jessica (Fred) Bergeman and Dilan (Kayleigh) Chrysafides; grandchildren, Clara and Helen Bergeman; sister, Vicki Marrujo; niece, Sarah Brozek; and nephew, Kyle Marrujo.
